Herbert Park Croquet Club
Herbert Park is one of two venues for the championship, the other being Carrickmines, and will host the early stages of the championship and some of the plate matches.
Herbert Park Croquet Club has two lawns and a chalet for shelter. It is a very popular croquet club set in a beautiful park. Beside the croquet lawns are tennis courts which can be used by members of the public. A short walk through the park is the Herbert Park Hotel, which offers fine lunches at reasonable prices (we recommend the soup); there are also many restaurants and cafés within walking distance.
The Herbert Park Croquet Club is a short walk or taxi ride from the recommended hotels in the Ballsbridge area. The club itself is on the north side of the road running through Herbert Park and can be found here.
We have arranged a free bus service between Herbert Park and Carrickmines, calling at the Montrose Hotel on the way. There will be room on the bus for both players and their supporters. The bus will be operated by "Finnegans-Bray" and will have a "Croquet" sign in the window.
The bus will leave from outside Herbert Park Croquet Club and call in at the Montrose Hotel approximately 15 minutes later. The timetable has been arranged to allow players to arrive at Carrickmines in time for the first matches of the day and leave after the various social events:

If you are travelling independently you may find the following directions useful.
For those travelling by car, the best place to park is just outside the club itself on the Herbert Park road. Note though that "Pay and Display" parking is in operation and you will need to look carefully at the signs. We cannot take any responsibility for parking fines! It is also worth noting that the times at which payment is required vary along the length of Herbert Park road. Whilst payment is required along most of the road during the day, there is, conveniently, a section on the north side of the road, just to the west of the entrance gate to the club, where parking is free in the afternoon.
Note that the All Ireland Hurling final takes place on the afternoon of Sunday 2nd September at Croke Park, in north Dublin. Expect major traffic delays in the city centre and on the M50 and allow extra time for your journey. (For those that are interested, it is between Limerick and Kilkenny - you will not fail to notice the flags on cars: green and white for Limerick; black and amber for Kilkenny.)
The number 63 bus stops near the club, running down Pembroke Road and then turning into Anglesea Road and goes all the way to Carrickmines (ask the driver for the Carrickmines Cross stop). The club is about 200 metres walk down Glenamuck Road. The bus runs roughly every 75 minutes. You will need the exact fare, which for the journey between Herbert Park and Carrickmines is €1.90.
