The communication from the World Croquet Federation reads as follows:
Dear All,
It is with great regret that I have to inform you that John Solomon, one of croquet’s all-time greats, died last week at the age of 82.
Carrickmines Croquet and Tennis Club are running a weekend croquet
open on the Bank Holiday Week-End the 25th and 26th October 2014.
The 29th A.G.M. will be held at Carrickmines C.&L.T.C. at 7p.m. on Monday, 29th of September. Written notice has already been circulated. Should anyone have been omitted from the mailing, please tell us at secretary@croquetireland.com, and we will send you your copy of the agenda and financial report.
Simon Williams (Carrickmines) won the 2014 Golf Croquet Championship, played at Carrickmines, with the disappointingly low entry of 10 (with room for 32). Of the strongest players, Jack Clingan, Robert Barklie and former champions Fred Rogerson and Ronan Rogerson were missing. Those who attended enjoyed many competitive games in the bright sunshine.
Golf Croquet Championship of Ireland will be held at Carrickmines on 13/14th September.
