This was the 6th match for the Carter Challenge Cup between Ireland and USA, played in Florida at the National Croquet Center from 3 to6 May.

Ireland has won four of the previous encounters but this time had the odds stacked against it.

The Croquet Association of Ireland won a close match against the Scottish Croquet Association for the Appleton Trophy at Carrickmines this past weekend (25-26 April 2009).

The competition dates and the draws for two divisions of The Irish masters has been announced.

This event will take place at the 12-lawn complex of the National Croquet Centre in West Palm Beach, Florida between May 3-6, just preceeding the World Championships at the same venue the following week. This will be the sixth encounter for the Carter Trophy, named in honour of former President of the USCA Foxy Carter.

On Friday October, Wesley College played East Glendalough School in the first match of the new CAI School’s League. EGS Transition year students travelled to meet their opposite numbers at Wesley. The match was a competitive, but good-natured affair, with Wesley winning convincingly by a score of nine games to three.

Croquet is currently being played in three schools, St. Columba’s College being the third. These three, along with Carrickmines juniors, will comprise the new league. Each group will play each of the others in a home or away format similar to that used in six nations’ rugby.
